The Drum Machine Report

The theories that involve the coming Apocalypse have always peaked my interest, but to those who believe the Biblical Rapture marking the beginning of the end will occur on Saturday May 21, 2011 I say to you: Really? Really? Earth will last after humanity is wiped out. I just hope that persuaded people don't seek the end prematurely. Let's just let it play out and see. If I start to see disembodied souls ascending to the heavens, then I will start shitting my pants. Besides we all know that Mayans communicated with Aliens, as evidenced in the film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The 2012 Planetary alignment theory is clearly more accurate. Mainly we don't want the World to end right away because we want a Buffalo summer first! Come on now. We're not going out, dampened. Things are going to heat up with a long list of shows and parties; this weekend is a huge taste of what to come:

friday 5/20

THE CRYSTAL METHOD
10p-4a
$15/$20 18+
PURE
75 w. chippewa st. Buffalo, NY
Factory Nightlife has landed another big fish. THE CRYSTAL METHOD are back on the brain because the famous electronic duo of Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan will be here in Buffalo to perform a DJ set of the music they have been making together since 1993. That is the same year that the Buffalo Bills lost their fourth consecutive Super Bowl, just for a frame of reference. Known best for their single-layden debut album Vegas, the duo has been a conduit for electronic explorers for over a decade. It will be interesting to see what new flavors they may choose to incorporate or if they will stick to the candy-rave anthems of the late 90s. I call for a blend of the old and the new to showcase how far we have all come from our early musical influences. PURE Nightclub will be the venue for the featured event of this weekend. SUBSOIL
10p-4a

DBGB'S
253 allen st. Buffalo, NY
Subsoil, a synonym with underground. I had not heard of them, but they are a live hip-hop fusion band based in Rochester, NY. From what I can tell their performances are energetic. To me they sound somewhat like Michael Franti, if he removed the sand from his vagina and rapped about lighter fare such as partying. I would check this out if it wasn't for the big banger. The DJs that will bookend SUBSOIL are: AREHOUSE:BIG LEAGUE CHUNE:DUBBY KONG:RED-TUNES

saturday 5/21

+frosty tone dubstep+
JOE NICE
9p-4a

DBGB's
253 allen st. Buffalo, NY
The Big Poppa of American Dubstep comes to DBGB'S on Saturday! What a score for us to have another really good DJ in an intimate setting. Hailing from Baltimore, JOE NICE is one of the founders of the Dub War events in NYC. Now a proponent of bridging the gap between bass music in the UK and the US, he has helped to expose people in the States to some of the originators of Dubstep in the UK. His other influences become apparent in his live performances, but you'll mainly be led down a subterranean path. If dubstep is your thing, then you should absolutely not miss this. I am excited because STUNTMAN will be playing right prior and BIG BASHA right after. Along with POTENT J closing the night with    tight Drum and Bass! Other DJs include MARK KLOUD, EMJAY BIGGZ, and AQUILA.

It's the freaking Tweekend. Time to pop a bottle, get with some friends, and let night lead you astray.
