Free Energy & Dead Meadow to the rescue!

Trust me, I was as depressed as the next man tonight. Good lord i was depressed. Damn those Buffalo sports teams and the emotional attachment i feel toward them! That being said, the second the game ended i knew i need to get a drink and forget. First stop, Soundlab for Free Energy. Although there must of been no more than 15 people in attendance, the band seemed upbeat and determined to lighten our spirits. "The game is in the past; i wish i could go back and change it for you" the Anthony Kiedis look-a-like front man Scott Wells proclaimed. And even though he couldn't go back in time and change it, his band's tight, uptempo, 70's style arena rock sure did help one forget about it. Dream City and Bang Pop where personal highlights. After that, i headed to Mohawk just in time to catch the psychedelic encore of Dead Meadow. They also had a 70's vibe to their music, but a more acid/drug induced sorta vibe. The bass drum even looked like it had a lava lamp in it. In all it was a great night for music, not sports.
