LA folk-rockers Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros play The Town Ballroom tonight. In the same vein as Devendra Banhart or Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins, Edward Sharpe's sound is as home grown and American as apple pie. Lead singer Alex Ebert who is often shoeless or shirtless conducts his large band like a 1970's church choir director. The 10, 11 or sometimes even 12 piece band incorporates banjos, accordions, horns, and male & female vocals that volley back and forth like young teenagers in love. The band has blown up on the national scene, recently bringing their hippie hoedown to Coachella, Bonnaroo, the next weekend, Lollapalooza. So make sure you go see them tonight for only 20 bucks!
