Tonight: Dragonette, Dan Black & Catamaran

Get your dancing shoes ready for the grown up pop of Canada’s own Dragonette accompanied by British electro-dude Dan Black.

Dragonette, fronted by the Martina Sorbaba, was formed in 2005 and quickly rose to acclaim with their album Galore, going on to eventually win a Juno in 2008 for Best New Group.  Part techno, part pop, and all sass, Dragonette dishes out saucy tracks like “My Things,” originally titled “Get Your Titties of my Things,” and bouncy beats like “Our Summer. If you like La Roux, Little Boots, or gasp, even Lady Gaga—you don’t want to miss this show.
Dan Black is gaining attention for his recent single “Symphonies ft. Kid Cudi”, in which he samples Rhianna’s “Umbrella” and has the support of raps newest cool kid. The song is actually an updated version of Black’s early single “HYPNTZ,” where he simply sang the lyrics to Notorious B.I.G.’s hit. Lazy—maybe. Catchy—definitely.
Tickets are only $12 for what will surely be a good time. Also make sure to get there early to check out Catamaran, the promising new hazy/electronic/shoegaze project to come out of Buffalo.
