Shows don't get much better than this one. Tonight, the hardest working band in Buffalo, Son of the Sun take the stage at Nietzsche's with Rochester's Walri and Massachusetts' Kingsley flood.
Son of the Sun have crafted an entirely unique sound that feels both old and new at the same time. If SoS uses classic rock as their foundation they most definitely use loud and heavy contemporary guitar fuzz as their facade. Its this perfect balance that makes them so accessible for the common music fan yet fresh enough for the music snob.
Walri just might be my favorite band to come from our neighbors to the east. They remind me of old Of Montreal circa 'Coquelicot asleep in the poppies'. With great piano, and interesting covers (they played the shout song last time I saw them) Walri is worth getting there early.
Lastly is Kingsley Flood. I know absolutely nothing about this band, but if Son of the Sun hand picked them to play, then you got my attention.
Cover is 5 dollars and show starts at 9ish.
