In 1993, Wu-Tang Clan unleashed their kung fu swords with their incomprable debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), showing off a stellar evolution of New York City hip hop. Tonight, the reuinited group (minus the late, great, and sorely missed Ol' Dirty Bastard) will be performing for a full house at Town Ballroom. Brought together two decades ago by their collective love for kung-fu movies, MCing and chess, the members of Wu-Tang Clan created both enduringly awesome music and a widely recognizable brand. (To quote Time Magazine; "during a three-year haitus after their 1997 record setting double album Wu-Tang Forever, the group's Wu-Wear clothing line hit $15 million in annual sales, the comic book line nudged out X-Men for the top spot in the country, and its first kung-fu video game sold 600,000 units for Sony PlayStation. And six members recorded successful solo albums." ...not too shabby for some dudes from Shaolin.) Thanks to the RZA's reliably tight beats and the agile rhymes of the GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Ghostface Killah, these guys are legends of hip hop and business enterprise. They'll be on the swarm tonight with doors opening at 8 pm.
