Tonight: The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards

The 53rd Annual Grammys are tonight and it should decently entertaining. Its always interesting to see who is nominated even though more than half of the artists we mention on buffaBLOG won't even be recognized. The Suburbs by Arcade Fire highly deserves Album of the Year but the chances of them winning over Lady Gaga's Fame Monster are slim. It would be amazing for Florence & the Machine or Mumford & Sons to go home with Best New Artist, but they are up against Justin Bieber (I may turn off the TV if he wins). I hope heaven has video chat because Michael Jackson is most likely going to be winning Best Male Vocal Performance for "This Is It". buffaBLOG favorites Goldfrapp and La Roux are both nominated for several awards. The nominees for Best Alternative Album are obviously all great (Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses, Broken Bells and The Black Keys) but that award won't even be televised. So obviously I have little hope for the award part of the show but this years performances will make up for it.

The Grammys have always had their ups and downs as far as performances but as I was researching who is performing this year, things are looking good. For example, the most exciting performance of the night will definitely be a tribute to acoustic music featuring the one and only Bob Dylan accompanied by The Avett Brothers and Mumford & Sons! Dr. Dre is making is first live appearance on television in over 10 years tonight when he will collaborate on stage with Eminem and Adam Levine (Maroon 5). As usual, we will see something crazy from Lady Gaga on stage. There is going to be a special Aretha Franklin tribute (yes!) featuring Yolanda Adams, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride and Florence Welch (Florence & the Machine). I am most excited to see Arcade Fire perform because they are absolutely amazing to watch live. Also performing tonight is Barbra Streisand, Mick Jagger, Ce-Loo, Gwyneth Paltrow, the Jim Henson Muppets, Muse, Katy Perry, B.o.B, Bruno Mars, Janelle Monae...... and more! So after checking out the Powder Keg Festival and watching the Sabres game stay in for a great night of music TV. The Grammys start at 8 pm on CBS.
