In 2001, Jack White “created” Third Man Records, and had envisioned a record label the way it was at the inception of rock n’ roll; an all-in-one music production, management, and distribution center hellbent on creating tangible, collectable, and digital music. For eight years the label existed only conceptually; its logo appearing on all of the White Stripes albums, and both Raconteurs albums. However, in 2009, he made that dream a reality when he opened the logo’s first physical location, in Nashville, TN.

The Third Man HQ is a full blown, head-to-toe, music creation monster. There is an on-site recording studio (including on premises vinyl cutting, and national distribution) , a record store to purchase the plethora the 7” and LP’s produced by the label’s 20 + artists, a photography studio to produce press kits an album art, as well a live music venue and the label’s management facilities. Since opening its doors, White’s music machine has begun to churn out hundreds of singles, albums, dvds, and live collaborations.

The label has begun to produce so much music, that last week at the SXSW festival, White debuted his new creation, the Third Man Rolling Record Store. This roach coach-esque bumble-bee showed up in Austin, TX to announce the label’s signing of Seasick Steve (seriously check this guy out he is fucking nuts), White played an abbreviated set, and highlighted the XZibit style, pimped out supercar’s built in PA (that can support a full band with its 8 channel mixer).

Though the only scheduled dates for appearances have already occurred (see the Third Man website for all the happenings), White has promised the Rolling Record Store will “…find you.” But, he also said it might show up at Bonnaroo, and Coachella, so expect it at big gatherings all summer, and possibly some small ones along the way.
