Tonight, the Buffalo Rocks the Harbor concert series presents Grateful Dead tribute band Dark Star Orchestra, and local faves, jazz fusion legends, Soulive. DSO formed in 1997, and closing in on their 2000th show (the band should pass that benchmark near the end of the summer), they are showing little signs of letting up. Playing entire Dead setlists, as well as songs from the Jerry Garcia Band, DSO has played with the likes of John Fishman, Mike Gordon, and even Bob Weir and Phil Lesh. The band sits alone as the best Dead tribute, and has actually lost members to Phil Lesh and Friends, and the most recent incarnation of Dead members, Further. This is sure to be a great jam show, as Soulive is sure to get the crowd worked before DSO's set. The jazz fusion trio makes their annual free show appearance, and always puts on an electric set for this city. Their clav heavy, deeply groovy funky style of jazz will have all the flower children on their feet. Tickets for this show are $10 advance, $20 day of (which is what you will be paying if you don't have one by now) and the Erie Basin Marina show begins at 6 pm.
