Tribute bands can be very entertaining, but there's always that nagging thought in the back of the listener's head: "Wait, so these guys make a living exclusively playing songs that other people wrote, and they even go so far as to impersonate those people?" Tonight at Nietzsche's, the tribute-band idea is upgraded: a tribute night dedicated to the Rolling Stones, with not one band, but many different bands, many of which play original music most of the time. Acts include The Jim Crean Band, Fred Mann's Curve, The Travesties, and The Afterburners, and they'll be playing classic Stones hits such as "Sympathy for the Devil," "Jumpin' Jack Flash," and "Under My Thumb." Since there is no one "tribute band," the focus gets put back on the appreciation of the Rolling Stones' music: these bands don't usually go parading around as the Stones and making money for it.
