At 10pm tonight, a rare treat returns to the Buffalo music scene. Cages, local free-form/rock/freakout/I don't know what the hell to call them act will be playing their first show here in quite some time. The duo, comprised of Nola Ranallo and Dave Bailey, have been at it for a few years now, honing their sound and style that can only be called their own. Check out their myspace to see what I mean. Theirs is a sound that transcends classification. Of course the sound is only part of the presentation. This band is a real monster live. Nola is entrancing with her complete lack of inhibitions, swaying and flowing as the music takes form. Her voice plateau's and soars from all corners of the stage and even the faintest whisper can rise to an unhinged howl. A must see live. Opening the show are Sonorous Gale and River of Ichthyosis, locals that also work within the experimental paradigm of their genres. Show's at, you guessed it, your favorite local hotspot, the Mohawk. $6 gets you the rad.~JK
