The Drum Machine Report

Cicadas howling outside and your palms cannot get dry; signatures of the “dog days” of Summer. I don’t think that’s supposed to mean you feel like a dog. I think it just refers to the lethargy of furry animals in humid heat. Not humans. Not us. We like to party. Enjoy Summer while she’s still here, because pretty soon the Frat-boys and North Face army will return, marking the start of University semester and reminding us that Summer day’s drifting away to “Oh Oh those Summer Nights”

Tell me more. Tell me more.

Animal Instinct is back at DBGB’s on Friday. Proceeds from the cover charge are happily donated to the Buffalo Animal Shelter. You can feel good knowing that you're helping out cute furry friends and the good people at the Animal Shelter who watch over them with tender love and care. On the bill are DR. SEB, LADY ATRAM, TRAKBENDERS, SNAX, and DJ MEDISON. Don’t miss TRACKBENDERS, Eric and Dave of Money Grip International, two talented DJs who will keep the party bumpin’ during the peak hours.

FRIDAY NIGHT RIOT

10p-4a

Free/21+ $5/18+

BAYOU

79 w. chippewa st. Buffalo, NY

Resident DJ SUNGLASSES MIKE is best at dampening female undergarments, and working up their owners into a freakish frenzy. For the RIOT parties he chooses a guest DJ, and this time around will feature my boys from SWAGGLEROCK. Expect a healthy mix of Club, PartyRock, and House. Don’t leave you’re game at home Danny Zuko, Sandra Dee is on the prowl looking to enjoy a Summer Night with you.

saturday 8/20

QUEEN CITY CARTEL at SOUNDLAB

9p-3a

$3/21+ $5/18+

SOUNDLAB

110 pearl st. Buffalo, NY

There are no excuses needed for a Saturday night party at Soundlab. The basement is temperate and cool, the sound is full, the beers sometimes can become beer-slushies, and the tunes! The tunes! Cool line-up for this with BROTHER BEAR, BIGSKI, and BONES along with SMIRK, hailing from Cincinnati, OH. Not sure really what kind of music to expect from him, but overall the night should be a mix of Dubstep, House, and Moombahton. One thing is for sure, DJ BONES’ outfit will be cooler than yours.

SUBTLE ENERGY

10p-4a

$10/18+

BROADWAY JOE’S

3051 main st. Buffalo, NY

If you’re looking for something a little harder and less “clubby,” B-Joe’s should be your chosen destination on Saturday. Offering up both Energetic and Chill Dance music, the Subtle Energy party will be well-rounded with different DJs. HISHAM born in Saudi Arabia, out of Providence is the headliner, along with some TDMReport local favorites in, TWIST, PAUL KUENZI, SOMA, and a PERCEPTOR vs. MARK KLOUD set. Pretty cool. Take the trip down to University Heights on Saturday and you may find yourself crawling back out of the rabbit hole.

SILKIE

7p-4a

$5/21+ $8/18+

BROADWAY JOE’S

3051 main st. Buffalo, NY

The real deal, SILKIE is gracing us with his presence as he stops through BLO on his North American tour supporting his latest release on Deep Medi Musik, City Limits Vol. 2. One of the most relevant of the real-school dubstep producers on the scene right now would be a complete mistake to miss! Especially since this is an added stop to the already planned tour. Also on the bill is THUNDER ST. CLAIR from Ohio who has raged the Buffalo bassheads before and the rest of the local Buffalo’s Most wanted crew. I know it’s a weeknight but with SILKIE slated to go on at ~11pm, NO EXCUSES. Do not sleep on this one. This is real.

City limits vol 1.6-1.8 mix by Silkie
