The Drum Machine Report

What a fine August it has been. Leo is on his way out and in comes the more cool and collected Virgo. Summer is dwindling and Buffalo is “mild-in out." Our seasonal changes are rapidly approaching it seems, but the parties don’t stop. They just keep on coming and getting bigger. The next two months of events are shaping up to be spectacular and we’re not going to let any earthquakes or hurricanes get in our way! Let’s survive this weekend then next we can celebrate all of our Labors with a relaxing Monday off next week.

Queen City Cartel and B.A.D.ass DJs along with BAYOU are right on point with your party needs this Friday night in Buffalo. FIASCO, held the last Friday of every month is locked in as one of the best monthlies going. This event will feature resident Bayou DJ SUNGLASSES MIKE, along side MEDISON, DR SEB, and ROBOROC. Tight animal print skirts will about for playtime. Get in the game and get to the party.

DBGB’S

253 allen st. Buffalo, NY

Party at Duke’s on Friday featuring DJ LOONEY TUNES, with friends from out of town TIM OHIO and RAJ MARATHE, and with local talents MCNASTY, MEDISON, STUNTMAN, DROP D, and DUBBS. Should be pretty cool all night with lots of different styles representing. Mostly House and Breaks, but look for a UK Funky/Garage set from STUNTMAN and get on the late-night Moombah ting with MEDISON. Nothing like the strait-forward atmosphere on a Friday night where the dancers and debutantes can get down on Allen st.

MOHAWK PLACE

Start it off with a little Hip-Hop from NATURAL INGREDIENTS, followed by sets from PETER BONK, MARIO BEE, and HXLY. Not your typical night at Mohawk. Will the hipsters flee at the sounds of Dubstep? There’s only one way to find out.

NORTH

140 north st. Buffalo, NY

I have mixed feelings about blasting this show in this week’s TDMReport. Primarily because I don’t want to blow up the spot of the North, the coolest industry bar in Buffalo, and my own personal stomping grounds. And because the music may only glance the realm of Electronica and Dance music, bordering out-of-bounds for what the TDMReport is. With that being said, some of the greatest songs of all time, popular and underground will be showcased in a night of awesomeness, spun entirely on vinyl records! Yes. There is such a thing as a dance party without Electronica and Dance music. I am pumped to check out this party again, because there is absolutely nothing else like hearing needles on spinning original wax. Here’s a pro-tip if you get there early enough, snack on a dish of the Mac & Cheese. It’s scrumptious.

BROTHER BEAR:BIG BASHA:CONARTIST:MARIO BEE

If you missed out on SILKIE last night over at Broadway Joe’s I feel bad for you. I really do. Utterly fantastic. Sounding so super smooth, he really played a perfectly tempered set. It included lots of Jazzy riffs over Dubplates; choice selections of music I have never heard before. Big ups to the Buffalo’s Most Wanted crew, Basha and Beloved, for catching the man while he was state-side!

Check back next week for an epic Labor Day Weekend. Much Love.
