Indie band The Rosebuds are opening for Bon Iver tonight in Toronto at Sound Academy and its an opener you will not want to miss. Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp met in Raleigh, North Carolina years ago and released their first record on Merge records back in 2003. The two are extremely skilled musicians and both play a large variety of instruments. They have had several drummers play with them throughout the years and are currently touring with Logan Matheny from indie rock band Roman Candle. Lead singer Ivan Howard was part of Gayngs, the super group that also included Justin Vernon from Bon Iver. The Rosebuds' latest album Loud Planes Fly Low was just released back in June of this year so there is no doubt they will be ready to put on a great show for us and share their new material live.
The entire show will no doubt be a night you will never forget. Bon Iver has been killing it in the music scene lately with his new album Bon Iver and his recent collaboration with Kanye West. Bon Iver is the brain child of indie folk song writer Justin Vernon, who is joined by musicians Michael Noyce, Sean Carey and Matthew McCaughan. Vernon's song writing is transcendently beautiful and I can't even imagine what it will be like to see it live. Fortunately, I am one of the lucky fans that get to attend the show seeing that it sold out months ago and tickets are selling for $150+ on craigslist.
