Tonight: Def Leppard & Heart

Tonight British hard rock champions Def Leppard, and rock's femme fatales, Heart, hit the stage at Darien Lake. Both bands have been touring for around 35 years, and have had their hands in the creation of the heavy metal genre as we know it. Leppard has survived a great many tragedies / problems, including the loss of drummer Rick Allen's left arm (obviously not an easy feat to overcome), and the overdose death of former guitar player Steve Clark, but has still managed to keep touring. The band's lineup has remained unchanged since Clark's death, and they have maintained their current lineup for 19 years, and is one of 5 bands to ever sell 10 million copies of two studio albums (the others being the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Van Halen). Heart has not been able to match their lineup consistency, however, the core songwriting duo, the Wilson sisters, have not gone anywhere. They took a brief hiatus in the mid-90's, but sisters Ann and Nancy have been hard at work creating music since the early 70's, and despite many trashy rumors of their sexual behavior, have been extremely successful, and have still incorporated their femininity into their music. They have albums that have hit the Billboard top 10 in four of the 5 decades they have been playing music (including their most recent album), and have definitely made their mark in rock music. This show will definitely be the definition of a big time rock show, so expect big speakers, over the top guitar solos, and encores that drive the crowd crazy. Tickets range from $26 - $125, depending on relation to the stage, and the show gets started around 7:30pm.
