Concert Review: Jerrod Niemann, Craig Campbell, & Brett Eldredge

It was if you wandered into the right honky-tonk at just the right time. The WYRK Fall Acoustic show this past Monday was one not to be missed. Jerrod Niemann, Craig Campbell, and Brett Eldredge, the three stars of the night, seemed to be just hanging out at an impromptu jam session rather than a sold out concert with almost 2,000 fans in the audience. The boys hit the stage, all with red Solo cups in hand, and got the crowd going with Niemann's recent hit "One More Drinkin' Song". It would be safe to say that everyone was singing along. Niemann did a great job sitting center stage, teasing Campbell to his right and Eldredge sitting to his left during the performance. He knew exactly how to grab the audience's attention with entertaining songs like "For Everclear" and "The Buckin' Song", yet could slow things down perfectly with "What Do You Want".

While all three guys rotated songs, it was clear to see they all had a sincere appreciate for each other's work. Between the jokes was an honest acknowledgment of the great music being played that night. White the other's played, Niemann, Campbell, and Eldredge could be seen in the dimmed lights nodding to the beats, and occasionally adding some background rhythm. Campbell, who is no stranger to Buffalo shared stories with the audience about the songs he performed. His biggest hit yet, "Family Man" brought a lot of applause throughout the beginning, middle, and end of the song. But with the catchy new single "Fish", he made a few more female fans in the audience. Overall, the guy is a great performer, and with a background in playing back up to country stars like Luke Bryan, Campbell was born for the stage.

The youngest of the group at this year's acoustic show was Brett Eldredge, but he had no problem standing his own. The newcomer had a captivating story for every song he sang. Maybe the slightly lesser known of the three artists, Eldredge stole the show with his charm and audience interaction. He kept the crowd going by clapping to the beats of rousing songs like "Thirsty" and "Party", both about having a good time and just enjoying life. Eldredge has a refreshing sound that makes him stand out from the other country boys looking to make it big on their upcoming album. As much of a good time he may be, it was Eldredge's rendition of "Raymond", based on his experience with his Grandmother's struggle with Alzheimer's disease, that stole the show. The crowd was literally silenced and completely captivated by the song, the lyrics, and especially Eldredge's voice. "Raymond" brought the biggest applause of the night. Keep an eye on this kid, he's going to be big.
