Prior to the pysch pop/funk stylings of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, the Denver via Chicago two piece noise pop band Gauntlet Hair will be hitting the Mohawk stage.  The reverb HEAVY band first broke onto the scene last year thanks to fellow music blog Gorilla vs. Bear, who released the duo's debut 7' single, "I Was Thinking..." on their Forest Family Records label.  The choppy, yet shimmering riffs are fronted by the dual shouting vocals of guitarist Andy R. and drummer Craig Nice.  Just a couple weeks ago, the band's first full length LP, the self titled Gauntlet Hair was released to strong reviews.

Also opening tonight will be soon-to-be Portlanders the birD day. The Buffalo born psych pop band will be heading west early next month, and despite playing their fairwell show a couple weeks back, the guys thankfully were still able to fit in another show before the move.  The group surprised us all when they went up and released their latest album, Fed Odd(which can be purchased here), out of nowhere at the end of the summer, and rumor has it, they are close to completing the follow up.  Doors open at 7:00 so look for the birD day to start playing sometime around 8:00pm.
