Fresh off the release of their latest album, American Goldwing, on Sub Pop Records, Portland based experimental folk group Blitzen Trapper rolls through Buffalo tonight at Mohawk Place. The group, who formed in 2000, played Buffalo a few years back as support for Iron & Wine (and stole the show in my opinion), and now will be headlining their own show. Since signing to Sub Pop in 2007, the band has released four LPs, from the fuzzy folk of Wild Mountain Nation, to the prog rock leanings of Detroyer of the Void to the open road embracing Americana of American Goldwing, the group has a style that as eclectic as any band in indie rock today. Fans of rustic indie folk, alt-country, and the occasional rural freak out would best be in attendance. Doors for tonight's show, with the Belle Brigade opening the show, open at 8:00pm. Cover is $17.
