Cerebral Ballzy is a punk band from Brooklyn that is heavily influenced by 80s hardcore acts such as Bad Brains and Minor Threat. While many bands of that ilk had important messages, these guys write songs about pizza, binge drinking, and skateboarding. They play in a style that's not easily definable, I propose DGAF-Punk. They're known to have wild live shows despite the fact that they really have yet to build much of a large fan-base and many of their shows are poorly attended if YouTube is any indication.
Despite their relative obscurity, Cerebral Ballzy is a national act that has opened for the likes of OFF!, Fucked Up, and The Black Lips. Mohawk Place is not listing them on their website, which is hilarious and depressing at the same time. The headliners of the evening are Lionize and Larry & His Flask (2 bands I have never heard of). I do think the fact that this is an unlisted show can only add to what will surely be a night of intense fringe punk music. If you have any interest in 80s Hardcore music at all, I would not miss Cerebral Ballzy.
Cerebral Ballzy is supporting Lionize and Larry & His Flask, tickets are $12 and the fun begins at 6PM.
