Screaming Females is a 3 piece punk/garage band from New Jersey. They play energetic garage rock with a punk attitude and ethos soaking the music. Road Warriors, they played over 150 shows in 2010 alone. Speaking of punk, they've been known to play basement shows in their hometown of New Brunswick to gobs of adoring fans.
Front-woman Marissa Paternoster is a wonderful talent vocally. She has a booming voice that surely can take over a venue's walls. Female fronted bands always get a little bit of an asterisk, but on guitar, Marissa doesn't garner comparisons to J Mascis and Doug Martsch for nothing. Fans of the "glory days" of indie and alternative rock are urged to give Screaming Females a shot.
