In 2009, guitar virtuoso Derek Trucks and his soulful and talented wife, Susan Tedeschi, both disbanded their respective bands to concentrate on raising their children properly. Though Trucks remains one of the Allman Brothers' two permanent guitarists (alongside Warren Haynes), a gig he will never relinquish, the two were taking an indefinite amount of downtime. The two built a studio in their own home, and in the downtime, recorded an album together entitled Revelator. They formed a band with an assorted blend of musicians from both of their personal projects including Trucks' younger brother and Scrapomatic, to become what is now known as the Tedeschi/Trucks Band. They tour at a much slower pace they once did, and tonight make a stop at Trucks' traditional Buffalo stop, UB's Center for the Arts. They play a much mellower, jazz infused blues style, that caters to Tedeschi's vocal strong points, however the immaculately talented Trucks' voice is exemplified in his ever burgeoning finger picking, and never overshadowed. Scrapomatic will be opening the show with their roots blues, and will be taking the stage with the larger ensemble to follow. The show gets started around 7:30pm, and tickets range from $27-$65.
Tonight: Tedeschi/Trucks Band
