Tonight blues guitar legend Coco Montoya stops in Buffalo to showcase some of his guitar virtuosity. The 60 year old blues-man got his start playing with "The Ice Man", Albert Collins, and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, a blues band formed by John Mayall in early 60's London who's alumni include Eric Clapton, and founding members of Canned Heat and Fleetwood Mac. Montoya has a laundry list of musical accomplishments under his belt, a whole slew of studio albums, and even managed to have a family despite touring heavily. Montoya is left handed, but traditionally (and I use the term loosely) plays an upside-down, right-handed guitar to accommodate his playing; a style pioneered by men like Jimi Hendrix and Tony Iommi when left-handed guitars were less than plentiful. Coco is still touring in support of his 2010 album I Want It All Back, but will no doubt be showing off tricks from his 30+ years in music tonight at The Tralf. Tickets are $20 if yo don't already have them, and doors open at 7pm.
