Tonight local indie/garage quartet Like A Panther is holding their album release party tonight at DBGB's. The album, entitled Rockpile, is a testament to their Buffalo Bills'-fandum, and it's the first full length from the group. Sounding like low-fi version of Social Distortion, they plan to infuse a little rock into the nearly always dub-step occupied venue (except on for Shaken Stylus nights). Also playing in celebration of the band's accomplishment will be local pop-punk veterans Patrons of Sweet, and post-punk art rockers The Viva Noir. The Viva Noir has been around since 2007, and also recently released an album called Damn the Architecture. The album, released on Full Rabbit Records, is heavily influenced by both Brit-pop, as well as bands such as the Smiths, and occasionally incorporate traditional So-Cal punk. The shows starts around 10pm at DBGB's, and will cost you a few bucks to get in.
