Tonight rock legend Ray Davies makes his way to UB's Center For the Arts for a night of rock nostalgia. Davies, now 67 years old, is the renowned frontman for legendary rock act the Kinks, and has been a major player in rock n' roll since he first came on the scene in the early '60s. Aside from being the primary writing influence in the Kinks, responsible for classic's like "You Really Got Me" and "Tired of Waiting", he has also written classics for other acts such as Herman's Hermits, or for former lover and baby mama, Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders. Davies has written three musicals, and has received a slew of lifetime achievement awards from the likes of GQ magazine, has been named a Commander of the British Empire (CBE; one step below knight) by the queen, and has been inducted into both the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame. Fifteen years removed from the break-up of the Kinks, Davies is slowing his touring pace, and focusing on his personal projects. He released his most recent album last year, and though he may not be playing out as frequently, it is clear he will never stop writing music. Opening up will be indie poppers and TV theme writers The 88. The show gets started around 7:30pm, and tickets range from $35-$58.
