buffaBLOG Holiday Party Artist Spotlight: Wooden Waves

buffaBLOG's Holiday Party is fast approaching, and it's shaping up to be quite a formidable night of music and merriment. With four awesome bands and DJ Mario Bee spinning between sets, Nietzsche's should definitely be on your radar this Friday, even if only to stop in, mid-Allentown crawl, to say “Happy Holidays” to all your homeys from buffablog.com.

The first band scheduled to play is Wooden Waves. Whenever we've written about these guys before, we've listed them as a “favorite” - which basically means that anytime they perform, you're going to find at least three or four of our writers in attendance. And it's not hard to see why we crush on them so hard: their live shows are tight and fun, with band members changing instruments and bouncing all around, belting out irresistible, eclectic electro-pop romps. The sound combines surfy, vintage indie pop a la Yo La Tengo with lo-fi, raw wave, Bromst-era Dan Deacon synth jams (and as an amateur synthesizeur, I always catch myself drooling over their stage plot).

Though the festivities are expected to run late, with live music coming from both the front and back of the venue, make it a point to stop in early to catch this superlative act.
