You can’t spell Christmas without “claymation”… well, maybe you can. But you shouldn’t! Those lumpy little critters in Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer are symbolic of the season, and the songs they sing are classic. Sure, it's got some dated sensibilities - like how Rudolph’s dad tells the “women-folk” (his word) their place is at home. Or how Hermie’s desire to be a dentist is so taboo that it has to be a metaphor for his sexuality. But the underlying message is that there’s a place for everyone, we’re all special! If that doesn’t make you feel warm and fuzzy, I don’t know what will.
