Singer, Etta James, passed away today at the age of 73 after a battle with Leukemia. Starting in the 1950's, James, tackled every genre from blues and rock and roll to jazz and gospel. Throughout her very long and extensive career, she gave the world tracks such as "The Wallflower," "Somethings Got a Hold on Me," and wedding staple "At Last." James, fought hard through her time here on earth, including a battle with obesity and heroin, in which she overcame and resurged her career and made music right up until her final release entitled The Dreamer in November of 2011. Etta James' classics have been sampled many times, and her track "Somethings Got a Hold on Me," can be heard in Pretty Lights' monster "Finally Moving" and most recently (and maybe unfortunately) in a recent track from Flo Rida. So, in her passing, everyone should take a moment and listen to "At Last,'' but hopefully not for the last time.
