Uncovered Cover: Beacon takes on Portishead

Those heading down to Mohawk Place tonight to catch ambient musician Tycho best get there early to see the opener Beacon, an electronic duo out of Brookyln .  The two recently took a stab at Portishead's "The Rip", the sad, folky number off their 2008 album Third. For their take, Beacon added an ominous, pulsating beat to back soft, echoing vocals while warm synths and electronics wash over the still haunting tune.  With Beacon set to go on around 9, keep your ears open for the possible cover.
