Groundhog Day Playlist

Groundhog Day was a 1993 Harold Ramis film starring Bill Murray. It was good. It's also a fake holiday you've observed only incidentally and intermittently since the second grade. No one gets presents (or does anything intentionally enjoyable), so when it sneaks its way onto the calendar a month after Christmas and New Year's, it's sort of like the holiday version of your friend who missed the crazy parties on Friday and Saturday because he had to work, so then he tries to convince everyone to come to his place and get drunk on Sunday, but everyone's like, “No.”

The Groundhog Day tradition is that the eponymous mammal pops out of his burrow on February 2nd to check out how cloudy it is. If it's sunny out and he has a shadow, then spring is coming soon, or maybe the other way around; I don't remember the order.

This year, various media outlets' respective groundhogs can't seem to agree, but what do animals know about the climate and meteorology anyway? What's more, the Buffalo winter hasn't even really set in yet. Has it. The temperature was in the mid-50s the other day, and we've only really had snow-snow a handful of times. And it probably wont get warm-warm until the last week of May or so. So.

But since I've reminded you that this fake, pointless happening, here's some music about the seasons to maximize your celebration of Groundhog Day:
