Once at the top of his game in the 90's, Doughty slowly slipped in to depression and a very serious heroin addiction. Doughty, subsequently broke up Soul Coughing and were dropped from their label. Mike Doughty got his act together and kicked his addiction to begin a great solo career. Doughty went to release a handful of solo albums including Haughty Melodic, his first full band release of his solo act which peaked at #175 in the U.S. and included Dave Matthews on the track "Tremendous Brunettes."
The "Book of Drugs" show, which fans in Buffalo got a sneak preview of last week at Talking Leaves, comes back to Buffalo's own Babeville in which Doughty plans to "read from the book, play songs, and answer super gnarly uncomfortable deep questions about Soul Coughing." This show is a real treat for Soul Coughing and Mike Doughty fans alike and will be here May 17th. Check back to buffaBLOG for more info on this amazing event.
