This just in over the Interwebs: The Tragically Hip will be playing a pre-Canada Day show on June 30th in Fort Niagara, Ontario, on the grounds at Fort Niagara at the Butler's Barracks. Also on the bill are Death Cab For Cutie (that's 2 local appearances in 2 months), New Pornographers, and the Rural Alberta Advantage. Tickets are $69 and go on sale Saturday March 3rd.
Speaking as a loyal Hip fan, this is AWESOME news, beyond the fact that the bill is outstanding, such outdoor Hip concerts always produce exceptional results, and if it's anything like the show at Fort York in Toronto I went to six years ago, this show could be legendary. The New Pornographers and Death Cab will be icing on the cake.
