The best way to describe Neurosis, Scott Kelly's main band, is stark. They play metal that's not very metal as the focus is more on the ambience of the music, as opposed to the riffs aplenty. Much like Neurosis, you could describe Scott Kelly's solo project as singer-songwriter acoustic material but then that wouldn't be a very apt description either. Picture less country and folk, more doom and gloom. Haunting, sparse songs that would appropriately fit into any scene from Deliverance. Tonight, Scott graces our presence at Mohawk Place (8pm, $14/door). Eugene Robinson, from Oxbow will also be accompanying Kelly, along with Buffalo's own Tracy Morrow (Bill) singing his tales of desparation and loss. For those who appreciate the darker tales of life, tonights show is a must-see.
