Album of the Week: Rusko - SONGS

Pegged to be the future of dubstep, Rusko held this delightful burden on his shoulders and took it in stride.  With a huge influx of Dj's coming out of the woodwork, it hasn't been easy to try and stay on top. Rusko, has held strong and continued to pump out inspired music without skipping a beat.  After an explosive gig in Buffalo on Valentines Day, this kid out of Leeds, UK, showed everyone that he has absolutely no intentions of slowing down and he proved this with his newest release, SONGS.

SONGS gets right in to it with the first single off the album entitled "Somebody to Love," which has been an anthem at any EDM show for the last few months.  A few more vocal based dance tracks and then the album moves in to its backbone, it develops some dirty reggae dub and blasts bass drops that listeners fell captive to on his 2010 release O.M.G!.  Songs intertwines reggae dub with get out of your seat and dance electro, creating some form of monster that won't let your body stay idle.  Each song battles its predecessor without ever declaring a victor, because such a task would prove futile.

Rusko has an ear for compiling tracks and placing them in very proper positions on an album, keeping you interested.  With an album title like SONGS and after hearing many reviews, it seems people are looking too far in to it.  To think this album is just tracks to get an album out is absurd, there is no doubt Rusko took his time on this release and put together what I feel could be his "growing up" album.  Rusko, appears to have matured on this album and things can only go up from here.
