Tonight: Cloud Nothings

Cloud Nothings ain't too shabby for a band that was created during classes at college. In fact, the explosion of Cloud Nothings as a recent buzz band is a refreshing jolt to the collective indie system. Dylan Baldi's group is both lo-fi and dissonant, yet strikingly powerful, evoking a sense of those early alternative bands like Sonic Youth, Gang of Four and other greats who challenged what could be done within the indie paradigm. Recently released Attack on Memory is a gem in a world of rocks. It has a darker feel than the more power-pop influenced previous release and I think it's a step in the right direction.

Tonight CN is playing the Ninth Ward along with Sleepy Hahas (one of my recently discovered favorite Buffalo bands) and A Classic Education. Don't let this be one of those shows that you regret missing six monthes from now when Cloud Nothings are all over the blogosphere (although they kinda already are). See 'em while they're still playing places like Babeville. Shows at 7pm and it's only $10.
