Tonight, Andrew Bird returns to Buffalo and will be performing at Asbury Hall at Babeville. Mr. Bird is touring in support of his sixth studio album, Break It Yourself, which was released in March. This marks Bird's second appearance at Asbury Hall, the show having been moved from Artpark, where it was originally scheduled.
Bird is an experienced performer whose music is pensive, haunting, and melodic. His songs are anchored by the violin and Bird's strength as a lyricist. Live performances alternate between the use of a full band and Bird alone, accompanied only by violin and a few delay pedals. It is a testament to Bird's strength as a performer that both configurations are equally mesmerizing.
Bird has been to Buffalo many times, and has performed in venues as diverse as Soundlab, Nietzche's, and tonight at Asbury Hall. Opening for him will be Patrick Watson, who you can read more about in our "Know our Opener" profile.
