Uncovered Cover: Bill Fay covers Wilco's "Jesus Etc."

Wilco fan's may recognize English singer songwriter Bill Fay, or at least a tune of his, as the band has been known to break out a cover of his "Be Not So Fearful" in concerts for the years.  On his first album in 41 years, the pianist decided to return the favor with a heartbreaking rendition of the Wilco classic "Jesus Etc." The cover can be found on Fay's latest release, Life is People, which just dropped yesterday.  Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, a long time Fay backer, also guests on the album.  On his take, Fay nearly does the impossible by making the somber ballad almost as tragic as the original.  Gone are the strings and lap steel, leaving just a man and his piano. The original track was recently named the 9th best Wilco song of all time by fellow music blog Stereogum.  Personally, the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot stunner would have been in my top five Wilco tunes.  If you missed their list, check it out right here.  It's sure to stir up a nice debate between Wilco fans.  Enjoy.
