buffaBLOG Road Trip: Skeletonwitch

It's very rare that a thrash metal band gets featured in Pitchfork. It's even rarer(?) when that band can crack the Billboard Top 200. Testament to hard work and perseverance? Or just punishing awesomeness? In the case of Skeletonwitch it's a bit of both.

2011's critically acclaimed Forever Abomination showcased the bands striking originality in a genre devoid of such and the band have been road monsters since its release, completing several european tours with Cannibal Corpse, Dimmu Borgir, Amon Amarth and other metal heavyweight giants. Now the band is back stateside and ready to make their east coast mark.

Rochester's on tap for tonight as the hessian thrashers will be making an appearance at the Bug Jar (8pm, $13), Rochester's favorite shitty/awesome watering hole. Opening will be locals Havoc, Howl and Sarcous, rad locals of the extreme variety. Highly recommended if you like your shirts black and your necks sore. Fuck a long drive and get thrashed.
