Whether it be as The Microphones or as Mount Eerie, Phil Elverum has been a continually engaging artist for some time. Tonight, he will be bringing his impressive body of work to the Ninth Ward, promoting his most recent album, Ocean Roar.
Elverum's music is characterized by a sharp contradiction between his fragile and emotive vocals and the surrounding feedback and noise of his instrumentation. Oscillating between simple and plaintive and the grandiose and chaotic, tonight's performance is sure to be quite dynamic.
