Buffalo MC's Dr.Ooo and Mic Excel are apart of the Essential Vitamins Crew hip-hop collective that thrives on classic boom-bap east coast production and intricate wordplay along with smooth flows to create a timeless sound. While the pair seems right at home rhyming over classic instrumentals like J Dilla's "Thought U Wuz Nice", their versatility shouldn't be overlooked, making tracks like "Windstar" work effortlessly with one of the more progressive sounding instrumentals in recent memory. As with any good rap lyricists, both Dr.Ooo and Mic Excel drop plenty of culturally aware references as well as local shout-outs. Dr.Ooo delivered a memorable performance earlier this year at Soundlab when he opened for Mr. Muthafuckin' Exquire and brought a high energy set filled with some of the best sounding instrumentals I've heard at a live hip-hop show.
