Tonight: Ra Ra Riot

Formed at Syracuse University in 2006, Ra Ra Riot began playing houses and venues around campus and later that year went on to tour in North America opening for Tokyo Police Club. The band went on to release their debut album, The Rhumb Line, in 2008 on Barsuk Records which featured the single "Dying Is Fine." The album featured a baroque pop style of indie that was full of infectious melodies and hooks. Their third studio album entitled, Beta Love, is due to be released on January 22nd of next year and will feature a more synthpop oriented sound. Check out the title track from the upcoming album below for a preview of the bands new approach which is reminiscent of acts like Discovery and Passion Pit and feels like a natural progression of the upbeat sound that has marked much of their career.

Opening the show are New York based garage pop artist Guards whose frontman, Richie Follin, is the brother of Cults' Madeline Follin, and have a lo-fi vintage pop sound that is featured on their self-titled debut EP. Doors open at 7 for an 8pm show. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here or at the door, but be sure to get there early as it is expected to sell out.
