Just Announced: The Avett Brothers

Roots rocking bluegrass act, the Avett Brothers, will be returning to the Western New York area this spring with a performance at Artpark on Friday, May 24th.  Since forming in North Carolina in 2000, the band has become somewhat of a live act staple and has gone on to release 7 studio albums, most recently 2012's The Carpenter, the 2nd release under the watchful eye of uber producer Rick Rubin.  Tickets for the show are $38 (thats a long way from their free Square show a few years back) and can be purchased through Tickets.com outlets beginning next Friday (1/18) at 10am.

  2. Woo-hoo!

But boo to the backhanded slight -- "Tickets for the show are $38 (that's a long way from their free Square show a few years back)"

These guys are a bargain at twice the price.

  3. i didnt mean for it to be a back handed slight, i just meant they have really gained in popularity since then.

  4. $38 is not expensive to see these guys. I would pay more. They have really evolved since the square days and were great last summer at bonnaroo. give them a chance and not let the price point over shadow

  5. @mac: gotcha. i just know that it can be a struggle for hard-working and up-and-coming bands to get more casual fans to stop reacting with "hey, didn't we see those guys FOR FREE last summer?!" -- so, reminders about how they played the square ~4 years ago for nothin' can be heard as throwing shade.

  6. I'm sorry, but $38 is too much to see these guys. $28 maybe...
