Charles Bordeaux is the project of Charlie Walsh, a Long Island native who currently resides in Buffalo. The digital album he released, Fables, contains purely instrumental tracks and tracks with vocals reminiscent of Oliver Sims from The xx. On his bandcamp page, he states "The album has one true theme: appreciation." Mallets, wind instrument sounds, rippling keys, deep thudding kick drums, etc, are layered over one another to produce colorfully saturated tracks cocooned in an overall sense of joy and gratification, but not in the cheap sense of such emotions. A highly ear pleasing outcome inspired by a thick host of influences: Animal Collective, Neon Indian, Gold Panda, and Flying Lotus come to mind.
