The word “remix” doesn’t quite apply here. Dinosaur Jr.’s take on the lead single off Phoenix’s forthcoming album Bankrupt! is definitely a cover (or reinterpretation if you want to be classy). Signature J. Mascis guitars replace the synths prevalent on the original, while also taking the tempo down a few notches, turning the anthemic number into a lament, giving lines like “headline from this day on,” more of a mournful edge. Definitely worth a spin, a lovely and interesting take on a great tune.
