Listener's Digest: Broken Social Scene - "Deathcock"

Canadian post-rock super group Broken Social Scene will break their nearly two year, self-imposed hiatus in June as they headline Arts & Crafts Record's Field Trip Music & Arts Festival at Toronto's Fort York. Next week, a re-recording of their first tune, "Deathcock," will be released on Arts & Crafts' 10 year anniversary compilation of rarities, titled Arts & Crafts:  2003-2013 (full stream here). The sleepy, Kevin Drew led number captures the group at their best - hazy, languid melody, gorgeous backing female vocals, subtle horns, delicate, yet building percussion - basically all that is good in the BSS world, and would nuzzle in quite nicely in their back catalog (I guess technically it already does) along side songs like "Market Fresh" and "I'm Still Your Fag." The song can be streamed and downloaded belowArts & Crafts:  2003-2013 will be released on April 16th.
