Listener's Digest: Daft Punk - "Get Lucky" (feat. Pharrell & Nile Rogers)

Has there been a better marketing campaign EVER than what Daft Punk have been doing? Ok maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but this is straight loco.  With the 8 year wait just about over, any bit of information on their much hyped album, Random Access Memories, has been ever so slowly leaking for weeks, on every type of social media you can think of. Even the 15 second snippets of their songs and the release of the god-damn track listing are basically breaking the Internet. I guess people really like Daft Punk.

After countless fakes, loops, and pranks, the music world can finally exhale as early this morning (midnight actually) saw the release of the full version of "Get Lucky," the album's first single (download here). Sadly, I have to report that the song is not the second coming of Christ. Look, Daft Punk is pretty incredible and all, but I am curious what the response to this song would have been had their name not been in the by line. With that being said though, this song is still hot ice. Guests Pharrell Williams and Nile Rogers add the just the right amount of soul and funk over the French duo's robo-tronic beats and grooves. Daft Punk is going to own the summer with "Get Lucky," just remember to breath until the rest of the album is out.  Random Access Memories will be released on May 21st.
