RIP Storm Thorgerson

Pink Floyd, Animals, 1977


As if this week wasn't bad enough we've also lost famed visual artist and graphic designer Storm Thorgerson at age 69. Childhood friend of Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett and Roger Waters, Thorgerson became a member of the graphic arts collective Hipnosis and is the man responsible for some of the most iconic album art of all time.

Seriously, the number of joints rolled on record sleeves designed by Thorgerson has to be incalculable; also incalculable- his impact on rock music and rock history. I highly encourage you to check out some of his work tomorrow while celebrating Record Store Day 2013, especially if they're on vinyl, so you can truly appreciate Thorgerson in his original medium.
