Tonight: Josh Ritter

Josh Ritter has long presented a panoramic view of America's tangled history with wit, charm and fiery poetic urgency. His dense, cryptic lyrics contain majestically inspired images and penetrating paradoxes: doves transforming into dragons, boats set ablaze on quiet rivers, Egyptian mummies reanimating to outlive their discoverers, lovers contemplating pushing the "big red button" while stationed in nuclear missile silos. On The Beast In Its Tracks, Ritter has used his latest album as an article of liberation, turning his marriage's dissolution into a meditation on resentment's movement toward acceptance. Tonight, Ritter will perform at Babeville's Asbury Hall with his Royal City Band alongside Alex Brown Church's indie-folk vehicle, Sea Wolf. Tickets are $32 and include a free digital copy of The Beast In Its Tracks.
