The Buffalo music scene is always evolving. For every long time stalwart who calls it quits, there is another group of kids getting together in their parents' basement for the first time. Over the past year or so, a few high school bands have caught our eye and eased our minds that the future of local music is in good hands for some time, or at least until they all leave for college. Along with Victory for Poland and Brimstone Blondes, tonight's WBNY Local Show guests, the Cascos, are part of this next wave of Buffalo bands. Think a less sea shanty Coral, the four piece, led by the way ahead of his years vocalist Jacob Smolinski, are a nice blend of surf pop, garage rock, and even a little Afro pop. Tonight, they will join host Mike Moretti for an in-studio performance, interview, and guest DJ duties. I'm looking forward to hearing some of their selections to confirm or deny how out of touch I am these days.
