Tonight: Limp Bizkit

In a lot of ways, going to see a Limp Bizkit concert in 2013 is like opening a time capsule you made in middle school, only instead of saying something like “Shit, I’m not an astronaut,” you’ll be saying something like “Shit, this explains a lot.” If you were born anywhere in the mid-to-late 80’s, you are one of three things: horrified that you ever subjected your eardrums to Fred Durst’s rendition of “Behind Blue Eyes,” secretly aware of the fact that they really aren’t all that bad, or a proud, card-carrying member of the Limp Bizkit fan club with a cache of autographed red Yankee-fitteds in your closet. I’m secretly aware of the fact that they aren’t all that bad. This may explain why I have a ticket.

Like it or not, they are one of the most iconic bands of the late 90’s. It’s unlikely that they will sound as “good” as they once did, but it’s going to be an experience. Now, I’m not exactly sure what kind of experience it’s going to be – “painful” or “wild” are both potentially accurate forecasts for tonight’s festivities – but it’s going to be something. And I’ll tell you this: nostalgia is a hell of a drug. In the right environment, it can make “Nookie” sound a lot better than it actually is. If it’s worth $30 to find out what happens when you mix Fred Durst, late-90’s memories, and a Tuesday night Buffalo crowd, then I’ll see you there.

Where: Town Ballroom
When: Doors at 7:30
