With new album announcements from Okkervil River and Neko Case, it's been a nice couple days for alt-country fans, not to mention fellow buffaBLOGGER Scott Mancuso whose texts led me to believe he nearly fainted upon the news. While Okkervil has yet to release anything from their forthcoming The Silver Gymnasium (9/3), the first single from Case's incredibly titled The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You is out and it's grand. With M. Ward sitting in on guitar, the free wheeling "Man" sees Case once again showing her teeth, similar to her own "People Got A Lotta Nerve," but with an even greater bite this time around. On top of the dreamy trailer to The Worse Things Get..., this could be a special record from Case. Now excuse me while I check in on Scott. The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You will be released on September 3rd.
